Norma K. Biln, CEO and Co-founder
Norma Biln has brought strategic and operational execution excellence to each
position she has held along her career. Throughout her 14 years in the life sciences
she has worked along, built and led teams that have consistently exceeded financial
goals by capitalizing on the strengths within her team.
Norma began her career in clinical research with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals after completing
her Bachelor of Science in Physiology at McGill University. She continued her career in
several capacities in sales management, marketing and market access with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals,
Amgen and Abbott Laboratories where she won several regional and national level awards for top performance in
each role. She later joined Stressgen Biotechnologies as Director of Corporate Market Development
working on HSP-E7, a therapeutic cervical cancer vaccine. At Stressgen, she also held the position of
Director of Sales and Marketing for the bioreagent business where during her tenure, she was instrumental
in developing a strategic business plan that substantially grew sales at a mature stage within the company’s
life cycle. Before her role of CEO at Augurex, Norma worked in a senior consulting capacity with Aspreva Pharmaceuticals on Business Development, Commercial and Communications initiatives. In addition to
her Bachelor of Science, she holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
The scope Norma has gained of the life sciences through her industry experience
across several functional and disease areas along with her proven ability to strategically plan,
execute and deliver results through garnering the expertise of key individuals will set Augurex
up for success as it develops its product portfolio.
Anthony Marotta, CSO and Co-founder
Anthony Marotta’s scientific creativity and knowledge have consistently created
progressive opportunities that have delivered great returns for companies that he has been
involved with.
Anthony began his career in research at Kinetek Pharmaceuticals while completing his
Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine at the University of British Columbia. He then co-founded BioSun
Solutions, a consulting firm focused on providing business development and marketing services in
the biotechnology industry. Anthony later joined Stressgen Bioreagents as the technical services
manager where he tactically grew the product portfolio by 30% through developing strategic
collaborations. He played a key role in training lab, sales and technical staff and was involved
in several aspects of the day-to-day operations of the whole business. He was appointed to Director,
Business Development when Stressgen was acquired by a venture capital firm to later be merged with
Assay Designs. During the M&A transition Anthony was an asset to the organization from a business
development, sales and operational standpoint.
Anthony’s experience at the bench as well as within bioreagent business
development are a great asset in tapping in to key opinion leader expertise, industry lab access and
assessing technological opportunities as Augurex forms key collaborations in product development.
