SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician will conduct accurate diagnostic specimen testing and reporting, reinforcing our position as a pioneer in autoimmune diagnostics. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality and efficiency to uphold our high standards. The ideal candidate will possess robust laboratory skills and extensive experience across a broad spectrum of diagnostic and interpretive specimen analyses. Responsibilities include executing and troubleshooting a variety of autoimmune diagnostic assays and other analytical tests developed by Augurex. The role also involves processing and accurate sample labeling, maintaining detailed documentation, identifying discrepancies and non-conformities, contributing to the development and implementation of corrective action plans, escalating issues as necessary, and promoting ongoing process enhancements.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficiently perform and troubleshoot the JOINTstat® 14-3-3eta ELISA test and SPINEstat® anti-14-3-3eta multiplex test and other assays, in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.
  • Support the development of new assays on electrochemiluminescence, multi-array, ELISA, xMAP bead-based technology and other immunoassay systems.
  • Manage clinical samples, laboratory inventories, prepare reagents, conduct routine equipment maintenance, and perform general laboratory operations activities.
  • Provide technical support for investigating and troubleshooting product production.
  • Support experimental execution required for new product development, analysis of results and establishment of next steps to advance product design.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
  • Identify incidents and non-conformities and participate in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and summarize data and write reports.
  • Collate and manage test results and support preparation of manuscripts using statistical analysis (GraphPad Prism) and graphic design software (Adobe).
  • Assist with the management of equipment calibration and equipment service contracts, as well as other records management and control, as required.
  • Other related activities as assigned including cross training in shipping and logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum educational requirement of a Diploma or B.Sc. Degree in medical laboratory sciences or the biological sciences.
  • 5+ years related industry/hospital/academic experience in a medical or scientific lab setting.
  • Demonstrated proficient experience in performing high-throughput clinical assays across various immunoassay systems, including electrochemiluminescence, multi-array, ELISA, and xMAP bead-based technologies. Familiarity with Luminex and MSD platforms is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including the ability to meticulously manage and record all experimental data, identify and rectify errors, and adhere strictly to laboratory protocols and safety regulations. This role requires commitment to maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and precision in all testing procedures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and English oral and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem solver with ability to address issues quickly and independently with judgement to escalate when needed.
  • High level of initiative with strong time management, and organizational skills.
  • A can-do, winning attitude and a strong supportive team player.
  • Ability to operate in a rapidly evolving organization and embrace a culture of growth and change while adhering to Augurex’s standards of safety, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Knowledge or experience with GLP/GMP work is an asset.
  • WHMIS training is required for this position.
