Children get arthritis too; Data on a blood test to help characterize JIA and its subtypes.

At the world’s premier arthritis conference, the American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting (ACR), taking place in San Diego on November 3rd-8th, leading investigators from the United States, Canada and Egypt will present new data on the 14-3-3η blood test. Several of these studies grow the body of evidence of 14-3-3η’s important role as an early diagnostic test that assists with rheumatoid arthritis patient management along the disease course. As a highlight of these new data are two studies describing how 14-3-3η testing can assist with arthritis diagnosis in children. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is an ambiguous disease, with several subtypes, that new blood tests like 14-3-3η can help better characterize. As a marker of joint damage progression risk, it is expected that 14-3-3η will have an increasingly important role in the management of multiple types of arthritis.
